These tips apply only for U.S.A. travel. I recommend not renting abroad, but if
you do, make sure you understand your company policies on this subject.
If you do rent, a
compact car is just as good as a midsize. Choose the compact. Take your proof of Auto Insurance, just in case!
Of course, take your drivers license.
They will not rent to you without a major credit card!
Do not accept the CDW it's a rip-off. (Ask your travel department for
exact information on this!)
Do not accept the pre-paid gasoline option it's a rip-off. Just fill up
right before returning the car if you can.
Leave all rental papers in the glove box (lock it if you can). You can to find them
easily!
Pick up a city map at the car rental place. They are usually free.
Ask the car rental representative for directions to your Hotel (or your first
destination). They will mark the route on the map.
Make sure you know the deadlines for rental returns. You don't want to be charged a
full day because of being 30 minutes late.
